Rocky, a frail 17-year-old dog, was repeatedly found at Anne Arundel County Animal Control (AACAC) in Maryland due to his previous owner’s negligence.
By December 2015, a twist of fate awaited him.
Beth and Michael Clark, visiting the shelter to donate, stumbled upon Rocky and felt an immediate connection. “He looked so forlorn,” recalled Beth.

Chris Collins from Friends of AACAC (FAACAC) reminisced about the heartwarming adoption tale, emphasizing how Rocky flourished in the Clarks’ care.

When the Clarks discovered they were expecting, Rocky was there to share their joy and became increasingly attached to Beth as her pregnancy progressed.

Despite his advanced age and declining energy, Rocky’s love for his family remained evident.

Tragically, shortly after Beth gave birth to their daughter, Hazel, Rocky’s health deteriorated rapidly.
He met his baby sister once, sharing a brief yet poignant moment before passing away the next day.

“We miss Rocky every day,” shared Beth. FAACAC wrote a touching note to baby Hazel, ensuring she’d grow up knowing of Rocky’s love and significance.
