Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Pumpy Tudors has added a new member to his family: a dog named Princess he rescued from extreme heat several weeks ago.
The heartwarming adoption follows Tudors’ encounter with Princess, whom he discovered in distress on the side of Interstate 75.
According to 11 Alive, Princess was enduring the intense heat of 96 degrees when Tudors came to her aid.

On the day of the rescue, June 15, Tudors patiently gained the trust of the vulnerable pup by sitting beside her.
Recognizing her dire situation, he shielded her from the sun with an umbrella and provided much-needed water and treats.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol celebrated the rescue by sharing it on their Facebook page, stating, “On a particularly hot summer day, thanks to a vigilant citizen, a trooper was alerted to a distressed dog by the interstate.
Now in the care of Cleveland TN Animal Control, this dear pup is receiving the care she deserves.” This touching story garnered over 5,800 reactions and numerous thankful messages from the community.

As Princess continues to recuperate, she’ll soon find a forever home with Trooper Tudors and his family.
