There are 1.5 million sanctuary animals euthanized each year in the USA as a result of overcrowded sanctuaries and a lack of adoptive houses.
People likewise tend to purchase pets rather than adopting them from a shelter. In order to locate adopted homes for these animals, animal rescue organizations must usually get creative.
In an effort to obtain more attention and help their animals locate new homes, Niagara SPCA from New york city partnered with Just Pizza & Wing Co. in Amherst.
In an effort to further help the dogs in need, Kimberly LaRussa, an SPCA event organizer, and Mary Alloy, the owner of Just Pizza & Wing, brainstormed. With each other, they developed a truly amazing and genius idea. To make sure that adoptable canines have a chance to find their permanently homes, they chose to put flyers of adoptable dogs on pizza delivery boxes
Pizza clients will get an especially adorable treat as a thank you for buying their food and assisting a community company at the same time. The best part? Anyone who adopts one of the canines on the pizza box flyer will certainly win a $50 gift card for the pizza store.
Many people in the community accepted the idea and were amazed by it. The first day after the project was released, six-month-old pup Larry found a house. The other pets also captured the interest of many possible owners. We hope that they will be as fortunate as Larry!
Kimberly was overwhelmed, stating, “We’ve had a tremendous amount of interest and support from the community and beyond since the story went viral on Friday. Lots of people intend to order a pizza just to get the shelter canine picture, other pizzerias have offered to put flyers on their pizza boxes, therefore lots of people are identifying their loved ones.”
If you love this incredible idea, please share it with everybody around you! We really hope that many sanctuaries and organizations will adopt this idea to help every sanctuary pet locate its forever home.
