She quickly took the puppy to a nearby vet, while her colleagues tried to locate the owner. But, they had no luck.
Throughout her shift, Officer Rogers kept checking on the little one, ensuring she was alright until staff from Kennebec Humane Society could take over.

During a meal break, Officer Rogers and the pup shared some time, and a unique bond started to grow between them.

Seeing the pup’s situation, Rogers decided to foster her until she was ready for adoption, as her owner remained a mystery.
However, when the time came to find a permanent home for the pup, Rogers just couldn’t let go.

Without second thoughts, she adopted the pup and named her Rey, inspired by the Star Wars Jedi.
The Augusta Police Department posted their heartwarming story on Facebook, featuring a sweet picture of the two.
