In February 2022, Muddy Paws Rescue welcomed Daisy and her eight puppies, rescuing them from an overcrowded shelter.
The little ones were battling parvo, a severe condition requiring intensive care. With hope hanging by a thread, the puppies miraculously pulled through.
Amidst this, Daisy, separated from her babies and in unfamiliar surroundings, was overwhelmed with fear.

Soon after, a family, seeking a serene environment away from the city’s hustle, adopted Daisy. Everyone believed this was the fresh start Daisy needed.
However, Daisy had a different plan in mind. Mallory Kerley, from Muddy Paws Rescue, shared with The Dodo, “To everyone’s surprise, on Daisy’s second day home, she managed to jump over the 5-foot fence… This kicked off a massive search effort involving our staff, volunteers and essentially the entire neighborhood!”

After four adventurous days, Daisy was found in the woods. Rescuers approached her with caution, and after an hour, they safely secured her.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Kerley mentioned, “Amazingly, she was unharmed — just hungry and tired.”

With Daisy safe, she began to adjust to her new life. Her puppies, now healthy, found loving homes.

Time flew, and a year and a half later, a heartwarming reunion was planned. Daisy’s puppies, now grown and resembling their mother, came together for a memorable family gathering.

Kerley joyfully remarked, “Their reunion was so happy. We love seeing litters stay in touch, and this family in particular is all still close.
The adopters keep in touch [and] share updates on their pups with each other, and we love seeing them come together as a family!”
