Piero Temperato, an Italian man who anticipated his dog’s imminent passing, has garnered widespread attention for his touching gesture towards Greta, who could no longer move on her own. With doctors predicting only a few weeks left for her, Piero made a swift decision. With genuine tenderness, he escorted his aging dog to the shore, crafting a cozy resting place for her to savor her final moments while gazing at the tranquil sea.

Believing the veterinarians’ forecasts, he opted to bring her nearer to the sea. She was already in dire straits, scarcely able to move, so he transported her to the sandy shore in her bed. Wrapped in a blanket, she found solace in a place where she had once been rescued from a pound, spending nine of her 14 years there.
Pictures of this occasion made rounds on Facebook accompanied by a heartfelt caption. Piero wrote, “I realize it might seem unconventional to bring you here given your condition, but I wanted to give you this experience. I recognize that your profound connection to the boundless sea reflects the vastness of my love for you, Greta.”

Contrary to the veterinarians’ expectations, Greta defied their predictions and lived until 2020, exceeding their prognosis by an additional two years.
As Greta’s final moments approached, Piero tenderly stroked her fur, whispered loving words, and reminisced about their shared adventures. His deep affection for her was evident as he remained steadfastly by her side until her last breath in this world. This touching story illustrates the loyalty and dedication one can show to a cherished animal companion until the very end.
Even now, three years after Greta’s passing, her owner continues to share regular updates where he lovingly remembers her, finding comfort in the belief that she now plays “beyond the rainbow” with other joyful dogs.

Jason Dunne, another dog owner, orchestrated a heartfelt gesture in memory of his dog, Rex. Also at a beach, he left a container filled with tennis balls, inviting other dog owners to pick one for their furry friends. An accompanying note read, “Rex loved the beach, Rex loved the ball. Please feel free to take a ball for your dog, and I hope you all enjoy this place as much as we did. Dunne explained that this act was his way of enjoying a final walk with his beloved companion, Rex, who passed away in June 2023.
