In the heart of Detroit, everyday heroes walk among us, often unnoticed. They don’t don capes, but their hearts are vast and selfless, dedicating their time and resources to bring joy to those in need. Today, we celebrate one such hero, a Detroit electrician, whose keen eye and quick action saved two precious lives.
A Heartwarming Discovery

Marc, a DTE electrician, was on duty at an abandoned house when he noticed two furry faces peering at him from the backyard. Curiosity piqued, he moved closer and discovered a pair of puppies, one injured, both visibly undernourished. Despite his attempts to approach them, the scared pups maintained their distance.

“I usually have treats in my truck, but I was out. They seemed to want to trust me, but were hesitant,” Marc shared in a post by the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue (DPCDR).
The Rescue Operation
Without delay, Marc contacted the DPCDR, a non-profit dedicated to rescuing injured and sick stray dogs. Theresa Sumpter, the director, responded promptly. The team learned that local children had been feeding the strays, but they had no owner to call their own.

After some patience, treats, and gentle coaxing, Sumpter won over the trust of the pups, later named Grace and Mercy.
Journey to a New Life

The dogs were taken to a veterinary hospital for a check-up. Initially shy and reserved, Grace and Mercy slowly began to acclimate to their new surroundings. It was a remarkable transformation; within two weeks, they began to show affection and comfort around humans.
A Hopeful Future

Now, as they continue to recover, Grace and Mercy are ready to find their forever home. After overcoming their challenging past, they deserve a loving family to show them the true meaning of life and love. We eagerly await the day they find a home where they can thrive and be cherished.
