Meet Petey, the puppy who was left to die in a park with his bro because he was different. A woman from Sacramento, California, saw the dogs while walking her son home from school and immediately hurried them to the vet. They were starved, tired, and cool as ice. Unfortunately, Petey’s bro passed away upon arrival to the clinic, however Petey chose to fight for his life.
Quickly the vets saw there was something wrong as the puppy could not move properly. Turned out, Petey had cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition meaning his cerebellum isn’t fully developed.
” This can occur due to genetic reasons or infections in the mother throughout development,” Dr. Laurie Saperstein-Cook, a vet at the Sacramento SPCA, told The Dodo. “The indications include head bobbing, clumsiness and dropping.”
However, Petey is still one playful dog: “He’s rambunctious, interested and ridiculous,” Westphal-Thomson, doggie’s foster mom, said. “He’s also extremely positive and enjoys meeting new people …”.
He learned to eat on his own, and loves to run around and cuddle. The abandoned puppy was quickly adopted by a loving couple that definitely adore him, and will not ever leave him because he’s different.
