When a large, stray dog was found near a highway, circling the surrounding streets, he caught the attention of local residents.
Concerned for his well-being, they immediately called the animal rescue service. The dog seemed nervous and restless, as if searching for someone familiar.

Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy, arrived on the scene and quickly realized that the dog wasn’t a typical stray.
“He must have had a home,” Hall told The Dodo. “His behavior is typical of an abandoned dog, staying where he was left in the hope that his owners will return,” she added.

Despite their best efforts, rescuing the dog proved challenging. He would hide and run away, making it difficult for the rescuers to approach him.
Persistent Rescue Efforts
Determined to help, the rescuers decided to observe his habits to identify his hiding place, allowing them to strategically set up a live trap.
Suzette knew the dog needed urgent care. “He was very hungry, ate only cat food, and drank water from the gutter,” Hall told The Dodo.

Initially, the dog approached the trap but did not enter. On their next attempt, they set up the trap in a garden.
Even though it was the middle of the night, they felt hopeful. “We threw treats in his direction and hid,” Hall recounted to The Dodo. This time, the frightened dog fell into the trap.

Safe at Last
Once safely captured, the dog, named Vader, was taken to the vet and then given much-needed rest. Exhausted from his ordeal, he seemed to have hardly slept.

Although his health was generally good, Vader moved into a room at the clinic where he could recover.

Initially distrustful, Vader soon relaxed when showered with love and attention.
A dog trainer also took him under her wing, and Vader quickly became a proud member of the shelter’s dog pack. He spent hours on the couch with his new friends, enjoying the peace and quiet.
