While most dog moms have litters averaging 6 to 7 pups, Petunia is an exception with her remarkable litter of 11.
This unique St. Bernard mix, at four years old, was taken in by a foster program which provided her and her offspring a fresh start.
But Petunia’s story is even more heartwarming. She also adopted 6 orphaned puppies, proving that some animals have an immense capacity for love and care.

Originally a stray, Petunia’s life changed when a Minnesota couple, Stephanie Easley and her husband, welcomed her and her anticipated large litter into their home.
True to their expectations, she delivered 11 pups.

However, a twist came when the local rescue, No Dog Left Behind, reached out to the Easleys with 6 more orphan pups in need of a mother.
Stephanie recalls how Petunia, without hesitation, accepted and cared for the orphans as her own.

Stephanie highlights Petunia’s incredible nature, saying, “She loves and accepts with no reservations.
She took on added responsibility, even when it was challenging. Imagine if we all had such a heart!”
Clearly, Petunia was born for motherhood.

Under Stephanie’s care, all the pups, including the orphans, transitioned to solid food. Petunia, ever the doting mom, even once tried to “adopt” other puppies during an event!

Eventually, all 17 pups found loving homes. Petunia, too, found her forever home. Reuniting with Stephanie months later, Petunia was just as remarkable as she remembered.
Stephanie believes Petunia stands out among all the dogs she’s encountered. Indeed, this St. Bernard mix showcases an unparalleled maternal love, truly earning her title as a saint.
