Encountering stray dogs struggling on the streets is a distressingly common sight these days. However, it’s even more heartbreaking to find a beautiful white puppy, not just homeless but also tied to a pole by the roadside.
This was the plight of a young white Husky named Buckley, found on the harsh streets of Santa Monica, California. Tied up and constantly harassed by passersby, Buckley faced daily torment. Yet, despite his dire circumstances, this resilient six-month-old puppy never lost his smile, holding onto the hope that a kind soul would rescue him.

Rescued From The Streets
One fateful morning, Buckley’s prayers were answered. A local rescuer happened to pass by the spot where Buckley had endured so much suffering.
She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw such a beautiful creature tied to a fence, left to suffer. Without a moment’s hesitation, she sprang into action. Soon, Buckley found himself in the caring hands of the dedicated team at Love Leo Rescue. The rescue team was immediately taken aback by Buckley’s resilience and joyful spirit, which shone brightly despite his hardships.

“Buckley is an exceptional dog,” shared Sasha Abelson, director of Love Leo Rescue, with The Dodo. “He is well-balanced and loving, and he didn’t let his previous experiences change his lovely personality.”
The team lavished Buckley with love and care, helping his physical and emotional wounds heal. In return, Buckley’s positive energy brought joy to everyone at the rescue center.

A New Chapter Begins
Buckley’s stay at the rescue center was short-lived. A woman named Angela heard about Buckley’s ordeal and was deeply moved by his story. She decided to become his foster mom.
From the moment they met, Angela and Buckley shared an immediate bond. For a dog who managed to keep smiling through such tough times, his new life with Angela was like a dream come true.

“Buckley is a typical, happy-go-lucky Husky,” Abelson explained. “He loves playing with his dog friends, learning new skills, going for hikes, and cuddling with his humans. He is just a perfect family dog.”
Buckley’s presence was also a balm for Angela’s soul.
“Buckley is such a great dog! He is our foster who has helped me in my recovery with PTSD. He needs to be active and have a routine, which turns out is what I need too,” Angela shared in an Instagram post.
