Binky, a 15-year-old black lab who vanished during his family’s moving period, became the heart of an extraordinary story of hope, survival, and the power of microchipping.
Despite their exhaustive search and delay in moving, Binky’s family was forced to relocate without their beloved pet, leaving their hearts heavy with loss.
For three long years, they held onto the slim hope that Binky’s microchip would one day reunite them.

Miraculously, a kind-hearted individual found Binky wandering the streets of Summerville, South Carolina, in a dire state.
He was immediately taken to Dorchester Paws, where the staff, moved by his condition, provided the care he desperately needed.
“His fur was so matted everywhere, especially on his eyes. It was hard to tell if he even had eyes. His nails were so overgrown they curled, he smelled horrible and his teeth were rotting,” April Howard, the director of Dorchester Paws, told The Dodo.

The turning point came when a routine scan revealed Binky’s microchip, sparking a joyous call to his long-lost family.
The news of Binky being found was beyond belief for his family, who had resigned themselves to the idea that they might never see him again, especially given the distance from their home in Georgia.

The reunion was a scene of pure emotion; Binky’s family drove six hours to bring him home, where he instantly recognized them through the familiar scents of love and care.
Despite his blindness and deafness, Binky’s joy was palpable as he nestled into the arms of his family, finally safe and loved once more.
