When Rosie, a Golden Retriever mix, arrived at the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue, dumped and greatly pregnant, sanctuary heads Katie and John Black, instantly began tending to the abandoned, homeless dog.
The staff had actually taken care of their fair share of pregnant dogs in the past, however when Rosie gave birth, it was clear that she was going to be a special case, as Rosie’s 4 healthy Puppies looked nothing like her.
Unlike the gold-coated mother Rosie, the puppies were a spotty lot. The black and brownish marks on their white fur made them eerily resemble a bunch of small baby cows! Fittingly, they were provided the bovine names of Daisy, Clarabelle, Betsy, and Moo.
Cross-breeding often causes striking differences in features of the pups, however in Rosie’s case, the absolute lack of similarity was remarkable. But that didn’t affect Rosie’s love for her wonderful puppies even by a tiny bit!
Today, Rosie and all her babies have been adopted into loving homes. We are so thankful to Katie and John for their sincere efforts towards caring for the litter and locating them the best homes!
